KERRY WASHINGTON IN VANITY FAIR HOLLYWOOD ISSUE

Kerry Washington on discovering James Baldwin’s “middle road,” race in America, and the artists who inspire her. -Vanity Fair I think its always important to immerse and absorb yourself into anything and everything. Always stay learning and reading about things that may not really be interesting to you and I say about 80% of the time I can take something inspiring and profound with just about anything... naturally in hindsight I'm intrigued by almost anything but thats just me being weird. I never knew about James Baldwin before Kerry spoke about him. Now I have to read up on some of his work & books! P.S I love how this video was shot like an film

SOME GIRL NAMED KATE THE GREAT

Image
[Photos:Models] Shot By: Daniele Duella and Iango Henzi Hair and concept by Luigi Murenu Styled by i-D fashion director, Charlotte Stockdale You know there's some images that you see that just stick with you? I didn't necessarily want to say 'haunt'...well I could say it was creativley haunting! Kate can do no wrong she-looks-stunning in these pictures featured in i-D's magazine. There are two collections that I could never get tired of Spring 2013 Prada or S/2013 Louis Vuitton! NEVER! even now every magazine and every stylist is using every piece in every editorial I don't care! I love every piece from both collection!

DREW BARRYMORE | FLOWER

Image
You guys!!!! I'm over excited about this! Words can not explain how happy I am with Drew Barrymore launching her own makeup line called ' Flower ' and no its not some lame ass two eyeshadows three lipsticks and one powder compact its a full-on-makeup-line! theres probably over 50 items(don't hold me to that!) in this line! See my previous post January Beauty Wish List and see some of the things I want (its not even half of it! I would buy the whole line if I could) I have such a deep rooted love for her she's one of the many people who've helped me love being who I am and helped me raise my freak flag high, she will always fuel my inspiration and I will continue to support what ever she does in her career! Plus have you tasted Drews' wine ?? you can buy it in Target  Read some of Drews' interview here by clicking [read more] or on Intothegloss.com

KERRY WASHINGTON PRESS LOOKS

Image
( photos: Red Carpet Fashion,Glamour ) Its so hard to find Black women as style icons that are actually consistent and relievent in their work that I actually admire and thats really sad to say because there aren't a lot (in my opinion) out there or maybe I'm not looking hard enough but no one has caught my eye yet besides Kerry. Whether she styles herself or has a stylist she always finds a way to make it her own and it doesn't looked forced. If you've been following Kerry' stylish looks through out her Press junket for 'Django Unchained and also through out 2012 up to now she's been wearing a lot of asian influenced looks and I love it! here are some of her looks that admire

KELLY X THE COVETEUR

Image
( photos: The coveteur ) Is it just me or does everyone see the trend going around the web with celebs/style bloggers wearing these bell bottom pants in these prints (or am I late to the party?) I love these ones that Kelly are wearing! Amazing! read her article here

THE ONES WE CALL SUPERSTARS

Image
Editorial: US Elle January 2013. I love this editorial so much especially the Isabel Marant, and the Giambattista Valli photographs the most. But my only gripe is and what I started to wonder myself was why Jessica Biel?...Yes she's beautiful and now married to Justin Timberlake but I really started to look at her recent looks and it looks like her PR team and stylist are really trying to mold her into a fashion it girl! Besides she wore this stunning dress to the 'Total Recall' premiere in the UK back in August which was stunning! (I wouldn't have put that shoe with the dress but from head to calf she looks amazing!) photos:fashiongonerogue & http://jessica-biel.us

BABY, HOT OR COLD...

I love this video/mini-film so much Lana del Rey does an amazing job directing in all of her videos! Is it just me or does this song sound like she took some inspiration from Johnny Cash?

BEAUTY SPRING 2013 | VIVIENNE WESTWOOD RED LABEL

Image
I love it when designers and makeup artists come together and really throw a fantasy element into these collections. Leave it up to some of my favorite designers in likes of Vivienne, Meadham Kirchhoff, Christian Dior (past seasons) to really amp it up when it comes to makeup looks! This season for VW Red Label Val Garland did the makeup for the show and I have to say that Val is a genius she's so inspiring and her artistry levels are incomprehensible. I always think to myself how does she come up with this type of stuff? For some people these might come off a bit clownish but to me this is beautiful! ( hence the name of my blog beauty of the unusual ) and this is pretty UNUSUAL! it reminded me a lot of Andy Warhol's work or a hybrid mix of a aging Egyptian 50's house wife on acid! P.S Not to mention the penis pins! ha! (photos:style.com)

VISIONARY TALE

I'm not going to act like I know who Diana Vreeland previous this post but I knew I'd recognize some of (if not all) of her iconic work I stumbled apoun this trailer on a popular fashion blog that I frequent and decided to check it out. Not only was I stunned about how vibrant and how visual her work was she quickly became one of my icons! I looked up more of her work for Harpers Bazaar and reading a brief about her biography and I was just so amazed The Eye Must Travel—a biopic built around the stellar career of Vreeland, one of the most legendary American fashion editors who ever lived." - fashion bistro check out her site and more information here

"NOW FEATURING A LUSH BUDGETT"

When people ask me what are my favorite films its hard for me to relate with other people I like watching vintage films from the 40s-70s era are my favorite to watch specifically the 60s! I love a random story line infused with 60s style. Its where I draw most of my inspiration from. I think that Netflix is one of the greatest dvd rental sites to order old films so I'm always glued to finding 'new' movies to fall in love with. I rented this week ' What A Way To Go ' staring some pretty major actors/actresses main star being Shirley MacLaine, Dick Van Dyke, Paul Newman, Robert Mitchum and Gene Kelly. Visually its a beautiful film with a good story line I wont bore you into the whole film you can see the trailer on youtube A frazzled widow tells her psychiatrist the unbelievable circumstances that made her a multimillionaire in this star-studded comedy. In a series of flashbacks, Louisa (Shirley MacLaine) recalls her four very different husbands (Dick Van Dyke, Pa...
